Montana Chinese Martial Arts Association Presents…

Internal Martial Arts Workshop

With Master George Ling Hu

January 16-18, 2009 - Chinese Healing Arts

434 N. Last Chance Gulch, Helena, Montana

After nearly 50 years of teaching Chinese Martial Arts, Master Hu has

developed an effective and enjoyable approach to sharing his extensive

knowledge of Tai Chi Chuan, Ba Gua Chang, Chi Kung, Shaolin Temple

Boxing, Shuai Chiao (Chinese wrestling), and Chin Na. Since coming to

the United States from Taiwan in 1969, he has led workshops and

initiated schools across the country and currently teaches Chi Kung and

Internal Style Martial Arts in Houston, Texas, where he also practices

Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Session 1: Tai Chi Push Hands. Friday, January 16th 5:30-7:30pm $40

Push hands is traditional partner practice where participants learn to apply Tai Chi Chuan

principles of listening, sticking, and discharging. The class will include basic drills for

neutralizing and evading and introduce Da Liu, a moving step push hands practice.

Session 2: Chi Kung for Health. Saturday, January 17th 9:00-noon $50

Chi Kung is an ancient style of healing art using conscious movements and positions to balance

the energies of the body, calm the mind, and focus the spirit. Class will include a series of daily

exercises for health, Five Element Chi Kung, and the Swimming Dragon form. This class is open

to students of all abilities and beginners are welcome.

Session 3: Beginning Ba Gua Chang. Saturday, January 17th 1:30-5:00pm $50

Ba Gua Chang, or Eight Trigrams Palm, is the least well-known of internal Chinese Martial Arts

and emphasizes relaxed strength, dynamic balance, and fluid movement. The class will cover

basic principles of circle walking, body structure, and Chi Kung exercises. This session is open to

students of all abilities and beginners are welcome.

Session 4: Ba Gua Chang Applications. Sunday, January 18th 8:30-11:30am $50

The martial applications of Cheng Ting Hua’s style of Ba Gua include takedowns and throws that

combine principles of Shuai Chiao with the non-linear shearing power of the internal martial arts.

This class will focus on takedown applications from the eight palm changes. Participants should

have prior training in Ba Gua or other throwing arts.

Tuition for attending all four sessions is $150 prior to January 7th, $175 after that date.
